We were very busy this week attending two conferences.
Firstly, a summary of the great Uniglobal Tax and TP conference in Munich:
Our partner colleague Jörg Hanken had the honour of opening the conference with a panel discussion on the exciting and hot topic of ‘The Main Global Tax and Customs Developments’. We discussed the following subjects:
– US: Trump administration and impact on customs, transfer pricing, withholding taxes on software transactions
– Europe: Double Tax Treaty – Sword or Shield? EU Decluttering initiative, Voice of Europe, double and triple taxation due to Digital Service Tax, aggressiveness of Italian tax authorities and PE issues
– Africa: Digitising tax processes, African tax authorities going digital, continental harmonisation efforts e.g. regarding free trade areas
– China: Pilot programme to harmonise customs and TP authorities in Shenzhen to obtain one set of aligned rulings on one import TP.

Jörg Hanken then presented a comprehensive case study of a family-owned company that only accepted net margin control for the sales companies and let us implement it after intensive persuasion. After the political and conceptual work, we replaced their Excel solution for price setting with our 10 years mature TP Management Tool. The result: The company was able to keep their controlling-/steering-TP’s, they added tax TP’s, implemted our software and saved more than €12 million per year compared to previous years. If you saw the presentation, you might remember the mouse and the gorilla 😊
André Jaekel and Céline Stingelin, as always, represented our stand with confidence, passion and enthusiasm, presenting our TP Management Tool and Service Charge Tool to interested participants.
